The project consortium of POLYVERSE – Promoting multicultural dialogue and religious heritage by creating a European Interreligious Choir, gathered on 8 September 2025 in Athens, Greece, for its third Transnational Project Meeting and the start of the first Polyverse Artistic Residency, events which officially kick-start the co-creation phase of this EU-funded project that aims to unleash the power of music for intercultural and interfaith dialogue.
The Transnational Project Meeting took place on 8 September and was hosted by the Jewish Community of Athens. It gathered all project partners to discuss the next steps for the co-creation of an original interfaith composition that will bring forward the messages of peace, understanding and dialogue reflected in the Manifesto “Singing Across Faiths” that the consortium launched in June, following its transnational meeting in Leuven, Beligum.
At the end of the meeting, project partners had the chance to meet the three composers selected to co-write the new interfaith composition, and discuss the next steps for the establishment of the future Polyverse Interreligious Choir, which will be created by the end of 2025.
FRH facilitates icebreakers at the artistic residency
The first Polyverse Artistic Residency took place from 8-10 September, also in Athens and hosted by the Jewish Community of the city, with the aim of introducing the selected composers to this EU-funded project and facilitating the start of the composing process. FRH participated in the programme of the residency, with a series of icebreaking and improvisation activities with the composers, providing them also with an overview of the cultural traditions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
Beatrice Orlando (Italy), Sakis Negrin (Greece) and Aaron Dan (Germany), spent three days of musical, spiritual, and intercultural collaboration, brainstorming the first ideas about the structure, voices and style of the new interfaith composition. In the coming months, they will work on the refinement and finalisation of the composition, which is expected to be ready by the end of 2025.
