What is #JUMPFORHERITAGE?

#JUMPFORHERITAGE was a campaign launched on 15 December 2020 and lasted until 15 May 2021. The campaign encouraged people to get out and active while exploring religious heritage sites. The campaign also featured a photo competition wherein two winners won a trip to Barcelona, Spain.

Participants joined the campaign by sharing photos of themselves jumping in front of a religious heritage site. These photos were also submitted to the photo competition. Several of our submitted photos can be viewed on our Flickr account here as well as our Instagram account.

2020 was a particularly challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed everyone’s lives immensely. Heritage was closed in many countries, as were sports and several other activities. By using the opportunities presented by the digital world, this campaign sought to unite the hard-hit sectors of sports and heritage in order to bring optimism and joy back into people’s lives.  #JUMPFORHERITAGE was also an extension of FRH’s Torch initiative, a project collecting personal stories in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
