This year the Catharijneconvent Museum, that is a FRH member, received € 925.000 from the Dutch National Lottery. This funding will be used to support a new project called: “the biggest museum of The Netherlands”.
The Director of the Museum, Marieke van Schijndel, stated: “We Dutch often visit churches when we are abroad. But we have beautiful churches in our country as well. Our churches deserve more attention. We want our religious buildings to be more open”.
The Catharijneconvent Museum is one of the most important museums of Christian art in the Netherlands and it is based in Utrecht.
The Dutch Lottery (De BankGiro Loterij) supports culture, conservation and restoration. In 2016 it has allocated about EUR 63 million to this sector.
