Spain: a fair for the Way of St. James

“Fairway”, the first international forum focused on the Way of St. James, will take place from 15 to 18 October 2015 in Santiago de Compostela. Pilar G. Bahamonde, Director of the Lebaniegos Center Studies and full member of Future for Religious Heritage, is among the speakers.

The Fair is a space for reflection, analysis, training and open debate among the institutions and organisms involved in The Way of St. James.

The Centro de Estudios Lebaniegos is the only Pilgrim´s Office in all Cantabria due to its unique location in the Camino Lebaniego de Santo Toribio, that is part of the North Way of Saint James of Compostela. Thanks to this Center visitors and pilgrims are able to enjoy and benefit from all the information and activities about the History of this Spanish and European region.

Pilar Bahamonde explained the actions to be undertaken by Cantabria with a view to the next Lebaniego Holy Year, which will begin in April 2017, involving the management of both routes in order to improve their knowledge, promotion, signposting and tourist marketing.
Her presentation also focused on Religiana, the FRH multi-lingual European platform that allows individual places of worship to publish events, opening hours and financial needs and to build virtual communities of supporters.

Pilar G. Bahamonde leads the Lebaniegos Center Studies since 2008. She an expert in religious heritage and she is author of two books and several articles.
