Religious Heritage Innovator of the Year

The Religious Heritage Innovator of the Year is a competition launched by FRH in 2022 to recognise projects that make a significant contribution to the preservation of Europe’s places of worship while highlighting the values of engagement, sustainability, protection and innovation. This first edition will focus on sustainability, in line with one of the five pillars of the European Commission’s Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage.

The application is open from 9 May to 31 October 2022! The winner and four finalists will be announced on 30 November and will be invited to the FRH Biennial Conference from 20 to 22 April 2023.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

European organisations, public administrations, universities, cultural heritage professionals, academics and researchers, students, as well as representatives of European civil society with a project related to the sustainability of religious heritage are invited to submit their applications.

WHEN WILL THE WINNER BE ANNOUNCED?

The winner and finalists will be selected by a jury of cultural heritage experts in the second half of November. FRH will announce the winner and four finalists of the competition on 30 November.

WHAT IS THE PRIZE?

The winner and the 4 finalists will be invited to present their project or activity at the FRH’s Biennial Conference 2023 in Lund (Sweden). FRH will only cover the conference participation costs of the winner up to a maximum of 1000€. The projects of the winner and the finalists will be included in a special publication and will be promoted at European level by FRH.

The Innovator of the Year is a unique opportunity to give your project international exposure and connect with relevant actors in the cultural and religious heritage sector. This competition is also an excellent source of inspiration, best practices and potential collaborations to raise awareness about the importance of preserving historic places of worship.
