As the MIRETAGE project (European Pathways to Minority Religious Heritage: Inclusive Heritage in Adult Education) enters its final phase, our consortium is taking steps to ensure that the work that started with this collaboration will continue to generate impact beyond the project’s end (November 2026).
In this spirit, we are pleased to announce the establishment of the Minority Religious Heritage Working Group (MRHWG), which will operate under the umbrella of Future for Religious Heritage (FRH). The Working Group will build on the outcomes of the MIRETAGE project, fostering meaningful dialogue and producing new data, reports and policy recommendations to enhance the visibility and inclusion of minority religious heritage within cultural heritage practice across Europe.
We warmly invite interested colleagues to consult the details below and consider applying to contribute to this timely and important initiative.
About the Working Group
Across Europe, the cultural heritage of religious minorities remains insufficiently documented, interpreted, and not publicly visible in heritage practice. At the same time, there is a growing movement towards more participatory processes, with emerging trends like co-creation and co-governance, that offer new possibilities for a more representative and inclusive heritage landscape.
In this context, the MRHWG aims to advance knowledge, foster exchange, and contribute to policy dialogue at the European level. The group will consist of 15 members: 8 representatives from the MIRETAGE consortium and 7 external experts selected through this open call.
Objectives of the Working Group
The MRHWG will:
- Map and analyse existing practices, methodologies, and frameworks related to the
heritage of religious minorities in Europe - Assess the current state of inclusion of minority religious communities in heritage
co-creation, co-governance, and other participatory processes - Develop recommendations for EU policymakers and stakeholders to improve
access, representation, and engagement of minority religious heritage - Produce a final output, such as a publication, study, or policy paper
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from professionals, researchers, community members, civil society representatives with proven expertise or relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Heritage of religious minorities
- Community-driven heritage approaches (e.g. co-creation, co-curation,
co-governance) that foster social inclusion, diversity, participation - Cultural heritage policy, research, and advocacy
Apart from a relevant background, applicants should have strong motivation to contribute input to the group and availability to participate in meetings and collaborative activities for a period of 12-months.
Expected Activities
Selected members will:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a 12-month work plan which will be agreed on by the 15 members of the working group at the beginning of the collaboration.
- Participate in regular online meetings (monthly or bi-monthly) and dedicate time to collaborative activities
- Share their knowledge, case studies, research insights and other relevant input
- Co-develop the group’s final output (publication, study, or policy recommendations)
- Support dissemination and outreach efforts of the working group at European level
How to apply

Please send these documents to info@frh-europe.org, indicating in the subject “Minority Religious Heritage Working Group”. About the Miretage project
Miretage – European Pathways to Minority Religious Heritage: Inclusive Heritage in Adult Education is an inspiring three-year project funded by the European Union which aims to build bridges between cultures and religions by promoting inclusive heritage and
inclusive education methodologies.
Miretage focuses on the cultural heritage of religious minorities with an innovative approach: it invites members of minority religious communities to collaboratively create three heritage trails in Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain using a unique methodology: heritage labs in which the communities can talk about what is heritage for them through a wide range of heritage-related activities in co-creation processes.
This methodology will be reflected in a handbook to help adult educators put into practice inclusive heritage education activities to work with minorities from different cultural and religious backgrounds.
