KADOC Leuven (Interfaculty Documentation and Research Centre on Religion, Culture, and Society)

MISSION

Established in 1976, KADOC is not only one of the leading cultural heritage institutions in Belgium, but also an international centre for the study of  interactions between religion, culture and society in the 19th and 20th centuries.

KADOC is dedicated to the safeguarding, optimal management, dynamic retrieval, and study of the historical heritage that has emerged from the interaction between religion, culture, and society in Flanders, in its national and international context.

ACTIVITIES

RESEARCH

KADOC’s research initiatives seek to clarify the cultural and social impact of religion and its many material and immaterial manifestations, using a broad, interreligious and transnational perspective.

MIMORA

With MIMORA: the ‘Mission and Modernity Research Academy’ KADOC aims to bring together current research projects and expertise on missionaries and steer them towards new thematic frontiers, by providing a forum for academic debate and by creating new networks for young scholars across the globe.

SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP

KADOC, each year, organizes several workshops and seminars about religion, culture, and society from 1750 onwards for researchers inside and outside KU Leuven.
