THE NETHERLANDS – Court rules on remodeling of Amsterdam’s Old Church

The entrance to the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in the centre of Amsterdam will be modernized after all. The proposed remodeling has been paused because of protests from the Vereniging Vrienden van de Amsterdamse Binnenstad, who say that the new entrance will harm the building’s historic character and value. The court has now ruled that the remodeling can take place after all, because Monumentencommissie and the Bureau Monumenten en Archeologie have already agreed to the project.
