The Friends of FRH visited the Adornes Domain in Bruges (Belgium)

After a few years’ break, FRH was delighted to welcome the Friends of FRH in Bruges (Belgium) for a half-day visit to discover the Adornes Domain, a private family estate founded in the 15th century by the Adorno family from Genoa (Italy), whose legacy has been linked to the famous Flemish town ever since. The event took place on 22 March 2025 and was attended by a group of 15 Friends of FRH. It included a visit to the museum, the Jerusalem Chapel and the Adornes House.

The highlight of the visit was the guided tour of the fascinating Jerusalem Chapel, a family chapel consecrated in 1429 whose unique features have been preserved intact over the centuries. Participants learned about the life and travels of Anselm Adornes, in particular his pilgrimage to Jerusalem, which imbued this place with its essence.

The tour continued at the Adornes House, recently restored by Count and Countess Maximilien de Limburg Stirum, the 17th generation of the Adornes family. Our guide led us through the history of the building and its current art collection. The visit ended with a cocktail on the upper floor which allowed the Friends to catch up with each other and get to know the new members of this FRH circle.

With this visit, FRH resumes its cultural activities with the Friends, which were interrupted by the start of the coronavirus pandemic. We are currently working on new opportunities to showcase our wonderful and diverse European religious heritage. We hope to see you again very soon!
