The European Parliament Backs Religious Heritage‏

BRUSSELS – On 8 September 2015 the European Parliament adopted by an overwhelming majority a report drafted by MEP Mircea Diaconu, on an integrated approach to cultural heritage for Europe. FRH welcomes MEPs’ acknowledgment that religious heritage constitutes an intangible part of European cultural heritage and that historical religious heritage must be preserved for its cultural value, regardless of its religious origins.

FRH is proud of that progress and we will continuing to work to protect places of worship across Europe. We should do what we can to ensure everyone in Europe who wishes, has the chance to enjoy this priceless heritage.

We also would like to express our sincere thanks to the Committee on Culture and Education, to its Chair, Mrs Silvia Costa and to all the MEPs who supported and voted this report.
