Future for Religious Heritage (FRH) was proud to present the Run for Heritage campaign at the 13th International Conference of European Cathedrals, which took place in the Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba (Spain) on 27-28 November. The aim of the conference was to reflect on the sustainable management of religious assets, addressing issues such as the conservation of their material and immaterial value, the compatibility of their liturgical use with cultural and tourist demands, and the cooperation between owners and public administrations
At the event, FRH President Pilar Bahamonde gave a brief a short but inspiring presentation in which she stressed the importance of strengthening the link between the younger generations and their religious heritage as it is crucial for the preservation of our these buildings and their assets. The Run for Heritage campaign contributes precisely to this goal by helping young people develop a sense of responsibility with a unique combination of culture, sports and education.
The Run for Heritage campaign has visited several cities, such as Potes (Spain), Orihuela (Spain), Asti (Italy), Lund (Sweden) and Ilsenburg (Germany), and engaged more than 1,000 young people in the last three years. The campaign has taken on different forms such as walks, cycling days, pilgrimages, and human chains.
