Museum of Cracow: Altarpiece from Biecz. Presentation of the Restored Altar, 16 May 2013 – 18 May 2014
The National Museum in Cracow has prepared a special presentation of the unique stained glass altar from the church of Biecz, made in 1617 by Daniel Schneider. It is made of painted and gilded glass panels depicting Christ, Apostles and Angels influenced directly by the 16th century Dutch engravings. Due to its bad condition and fragile state the altar was not on public view, however thanks to an extensive conservation project during 2007 – 2012 it is now displayed in a specially designed cabinet at the Gallery of Arts and Crafts.
