Italy: exploring Umbria during the Holy Year of Mercy

On the occasion of the extraordinary Jubilee the Umbria Region has devoted a huge programme to religious tourism and pilgrimages both to Rome and to Assisi.

As everybody knows, Umbria is the land of Saints as S. Francis, st Claire and St. Benedict. Landscape, events and spirituality are key elements of this unique programme.

S. Francis’ Way crosses the Umbria Region from la Verna (in the North) to Greccio (in the South). It is an ideal path to do by foot, by bike or by horse, connecting the places related to S. Francis life. Pilgrims can walk through the hills and the forests, discovering the villages and cities S. Francis lived in. Assisi, of course, is the heart of this route.
