Historic Religious Buildings Alliance

MISSION

The Historic Religious Buildings Alliance was set up in 2008. They bring together those working for a secure future for historic religious buildings.  It is a part of the umbrella organization Heritage Alliance.  Most of what they do is focused on safeguarding religious heritage in the UK.  They produce an e-newsletter for anyone interested in religious heritage that updates them on the latest news concerning religious heritage.  They also maintain a members network which holds quarterly meetings.  Additionally, they also provide a communication channel between the government and their representative members, on matters affecting historic religious buildings in Great Britain.

ACTIVITIES

EVALUATION OF LISTED PLACES OF WORSHIP ROOF REPAIR FUND

The organization conducted a project who’s goal was to analyze the conditions of roofs on religious buildings throughout the UK.  Using the finding for the organization, religious buildings were able to apply for grants which would allow their roofs to be inspected and repaired if needed.  This project was an enormous success and inspired other religious heritage sites to consider the conditions of their own roofs.

ADVICE AND CONSULTANCY

Through the help of its members, the organization provides advice and consultancy on several aspects of religious heritage preservation and maintenance.  This advice ranges from toolkits on their website to personalized consultancy through either one of the members or the organization itself.
