Filokalia

MISSION

“FILOKALIA”  is a  non-profit and non-governmental organization located in  Nicosia, Cyprus. It was founded with the aim of supporting educational and cultural activities for children, young people and adults as well as working to fight against poverty and unemployment in order to enhance their community’s quality of life. “FILOKALIA” in ancient  Greek means “the love of the beautiful and the good”;  as such the scope of “FILOKALIA” is to support and educate children,  young people and adults to participate in activities that promote the principles of the common good within Europe. Due to its connection with the  Orthodox  Church of  Cyprus and its more than 150 parishes, It has access to a national,  well-organized network of volunteers,  mainly of young people,  who assist in activities that promote the common good and benefit.

ACTIVITIES

BOOSTING EMPLOYABILITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The project started in December 2018 and aims to develop a “Learning and Co-Creativity Product Package” for students of Primary and Secondary Εducation and to design and establish Learning and Co-Creativity Centres. Based on the creative and innovative methodology, this project develops children’s personal and social skills as well as their ability to use knowledge and innovation in their everyday life.

RECULT

The aim of this project is to preserve the intangible heritage of the Nicosia region of cyprus. Headed by the Archbishopric of Cyprus, Filokalia is working to digitize the intangible as well as most of its tangible heritage of its region. The project started in October 2018 and will be completed in September 2021.

DIGITAL UNSEALING OF AGIONI ISLANDS

Headed by the Holy Metropolis of Limassol, the goal of this project is to create digital laboratories as well as digitalize part of the ecclesiastical cultural heritage of the Agioni Islands. The project started in September 2018 and will be completed in 2021.
