Cities Embracing Jewish Heritage: Celebrating Jewish Heritage and Combating Antisemitism

The Cities Embracing Jewish Heritage project is a joint initiative of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) and European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage (AEPJ). This project encourages cities to participate in the European Days of Jewish Culture, an event held annually in September celebrating Jewish heritage through cultural events, exhibitions, and educational activities.

By highlighting the ongoing contributions of Jewish heritage to European society, cities participating in the project foster intercultural dialogue, promote inclusion, and combat antisemitism with a proactive approach.

How we support your city

  • Joint virtual kickof meeting to present the European Days of Jewish Culture and inspire project ideas.
  • One-on-one sessions with experts to support the development of city-specific projects.
  • Financial support for concrete, on-the-ground activities.
  • Access to branding and marketing support for city events.
  • Opportunities for broad exposure through the CAM and AEPJ websites and media channels.
  • Didactic materials on the organisation of activities and on Jewish culture and history.

What your city can do

  • Exhibitions: Curate exhibits showcasing key moments in local Jewish history.
  • Tributes: Honor notable Jewish figures with events, murals, and educational materials.
  • Concerts: Feature Jewish music to celebrate cultural diversity.
  • Food Celebrations: Organize festivals highlighting traditional and modern Jewish cuisine.
  • Public Art Displays: Create murals or installations related to Jewish heritage.
  • Educational Programs: Ofer workshops in schools and community centers on Jewish history and traditions.

Each city will have the autonomy to design a unique project tailored to its needs, with CAM and AEPJ providing the necessary support and resources to make it a reality.
