The University of Namur now offers a course designed to further the protection of Belgium’s religious heritage, which is under threat from theft, deterioration and demolition.
The course is a joint initiative of the University of Namur, the Institut Royal du Patrimoine Artistique and the bishopric, and is aimed at those responsible for the functioning for churches, but is emphatically open to all individuals interested in religious heritage; it takes place on Saturday mornings and the fee is limited to €50. The goal of the seminar is to stress the value of religious heritage, raise awareness of the gravity of the problems among parishioners and to influence the ways the threatened heritage is managed.
