On the occasion of the renovation of the cathedral of Antwerp, which has been finished after 50 years, a conference will be held on December 10th – 11th to celebrate this unique event.
The conference will take the specific issues that almost naturally occur during longtime restaurations as its focus: how to include evolving restauration techniques and approaches? How to incorporate the changed use and context of the building, i.e. lithurgy and tourism, into the different restauration phases?
A range of international experts from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France have been invited to shed their light on both the practical and technical choises to be taken as well as from a philosophical point of view.
The lectures will be presented in the language of the speaker (Dutch, French and German).
