The conference titled ‘Moving heritage. Between conservation and devotion’, to take place on 27-28 April 2017 in Brussels, Belgium, will focus on possible conflicts of interest between intangible and tangible heritage as can be the case with public rituals and festivities which center around objects of mnemonic or religious value.
The aim of the conference is to incite reflection about ways to reconcile the preservation of processions that necessarily demand carrying objects around in public space on the one hand and the conservation and protection of those objects themselves from the public realm on the other hand.
The organising committee has now issued a Call for papers for presentations (in Dutch or in French). Deadline is 15 October 2016.
