Europe’s Living Religious Heritage

28 MAY 2021

Deadline: CLOSED

Future for Religious Heritage (FRH) is delighted to announce its seventh biennial international conference from 27th to 28th of May 2021 in Barcelona, Spain.

The conference will provide a forum for policy debate and exchange of knowledge among decision-makers, professionals and volunteers in the field of heritage and culture. The 2020 conference theme “Europe’s Living Religious Heritage” will ask questions about the heritage we received from past generations and which we still use. Living religious heritage, in continuous, extended or even new use, can help us to understand the present and to make choices for the future, contributing to the well-being of both heritage and to society as a whole.

FRH calls for abstracts of best practice examples in one or more of the following topics:

  • Use of religious heritage, from traditional to extended and new use of places of worship
  • Community and Dialogue: religious heritage as a resource for community development, encouraging traditional and new communities to engage, social sustainability, public interest
  • Cultural Expressions: intangible heritage; rituals and traditions, (sacred) art and music
  • Sustainable Care: maintenance, sustainable preservation, museums, legislation, official policies
