St James is the oldest standing church in Liverpool but it was forced to close in 1972 due to dwindling numbers.
It remained derelict for 40 years but now there are ambitious £2m plans to restore it to its former glory.
Two years ago, it reopened as St James in the City where its congregation meets in a large tent in the church until the money can be raised.
The tent provides a space for worship and is also used to host church events.
