UK – metal thieves ransack churches

Metal thieves dismantled an antique church organ at Holy Trinity, Blackburn, during a break-in. They also took lead from the roof. The church was previously hit by vandals during a spate of thefts last year. Read the full article here.

During a raid on a South Yorkshire church, Holy Trinity in Wentworth, Rotherham, centuries-old historic brass memorials were ripped from the walls. The stolen metal will probably be melted down. The Churches Conservation Trust has asked the public to be vigilant and to report suspicious behaviour. Read more here.
