Nearly EUR 100 million from Operational Programme “Regions in Growth” was earmarked for the renovation of churches in Bulgaria that are cultural heritage of national and global significance, Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development Lilyana Pavlova said.

Half of the funding provided will be paid in the form of grants, while the other half will be directed to the tourism fund in order to be granted in the form of long-term low-interest loans, Minister Pavlova explained. At the same time, renovation of churches and monasteries of regional and local significance will be carried out using funds from the Rural Development Programme.
